Recently, I came across a Power App gallery control / ForAll gotcha
which I managed to handle so I’m sharing this here in case anyone else experiences the
same issue. The ForAll() function performs a specified action for each
item in a collection or table, allowing you to iterate through a
list of items to apply changes or save data. When working with Power Apps
and SharePoint, you may need to save data from a gallery control
to a SharePoint list, often involving both
creating new entries and updating existing ones.
Now, insert a button control and set its Item property in the code to update the price
by 0.9 (which applies a 10% discount). Once we click on the button control, the collection records will be saved in the SharePoint
list, as shown below.
When updating and creating data from a gallery to a
SharePoint list, using Patch(ForAll()) is the better choice
over ForAll(Patch()). This method leads to multiple requests
to SharePoint, which can be inefficient for larger datasets.
Let’s consider a scenario where you have a gallery that displays various
fishing trip data, including the location, date, the
number of fish caught, and a unique identifier for existing trips.
To do so, insert a Button control on the Power Apps screen and set its OnSelect property
to the code below.
